COURSE INFORMATIONCURRICULUM LAYOUT

OVERVIEW

This 12-week Live Sound Engineering 101 is designed to impart the necessary theoretical, practical and reflexive skills required to equip the learner with a resilient skill set which will allow him/her to work in and adapt to the demands of commercial live sound engineering.

This course can be taken as a credit-bearing module towards one of the qualification courses we present in Music Technology (refer to the entry requirements of the particular course)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Basic knowledge and experience on operating a live sound engineering setup is required.

Should you whish to enroll into the course as a credit-bearding module for one of the qualification courses in Music Technology you need to present the necessary entry requirements as required by the particular course.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

   Basic understanding of Sound Equipment and Live Audio Setups
   English Language aptitude: speaking, reading, writing and comprehension.

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS:

   A Passion for music and live events.
   Diligence, punctuality and dedication
   An Inquisitive attitude
 

ABOUT CLASSES

This course allows a limited number of students per intake to secure maximum contact with the students. Each student will have ample time to work on profesional live sound equipment and setups. Classes consist of theoretical and practical hand's-on class exercises, demonstrations and assignments.

   A 1-hour theoretical- and 2-hours practical class are scheduled in various time-slots during the week. The exact time-slots for these classes are finalized one week before commencing of the course and will fall between 9:00 and 17:00 during the day.
 

TEXTBOOKS

The prescribed course textbooks are not included in the course fee. All other course notes and material are included.

SOFTWARE

The course is presented but (not limited) on the latest version of Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation Software.

In order to work remotely as well, it is recommended that students obtain their own licenses of the primary software platforms.

HARDWARE

Everything you need to successfully complete the course is provided for on Campus during your sessions.

All enrolled students can book and use the College's fully equipped studios and practice room to complete their practical projects during the course.

If you want to gain more experience in music technology, excel at the software used in the course and be able to complete assessment tasks remotely, it is strongly recommended that you have access to your own DAW setup.

Registerd students qualify for up to 50% student discount on software and hardware.
