Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge through practical exercises and projects. These hands-on activities will help you develop essential skills in audio recording, editing, and production, allowing you to create compelling radio broadcasts and podcast episodes. 


This module serves as an introduction to radio and podcasting. Students are introduced to concepts relating to radio broadcasts, production, equipment, and broadcasting systems. Furthermore, podcasting is introduced to the student. Students will need to understand and comprehend the different networks, styles of podcasting, hosting, and interviewing and marketing strategies for marketing.

  • Advanced mixing techniques

    Building on basic mixing techniques, students will learn more advanced techniques such as harmonic mixing, EQ blending, and filtering to create more complex and dynamic mixes.

  • Effects and sampling

    Introducing students to using effects such as reverb, delay, and phaser, as well as sampling techniques to enhance their sets and create unique sounds.

  • Advanced song selection

    Focusing on developing more sophisticated playlists that consider different genres, moods, and energies, and how to create a narrative arc within a set.

  • Remixing and mashups

    Teaching students how to create remixes and mashups using different software and techniques, to create original music that is tailored to their individual style.

  • Live performance skills

    Building on the basic performance skills learned in the introductory course, students will learn how to create a connection with their audience, manage energy levels, and create a memorable performance.

  • Industry trends and technology

    Keeping students up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the DJ industry, including new technologies, software, and equipment.

  • Business and marketing skills

    Introducing students to the business side of the industry, including branding, marketing, and networking, to help them build a successful career as a DJ.
