N-PTS201: Pro Tools 201 (Pro Tools Production II)



This Pro Tools 201 course covers the core concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools system setup in a professional studio environment.

The course continues to build on the fundamental concepts and topics covered in the Pro Tools 100-series of courses. Access to the 201 international exam requires passing all previous 100 series exams.


At the end of this course, you will be able to:

Understand Pro Tools|HD Family
Optimize your system
Configure and navigate sessions
Manage sessions using DigiBase browsers
Apply selection techniques
Alternate tools and advanced nudging techniques
Employ HD automation modes
Mix with Pro Tools|HD Family
Finish the session by creating a final mixdown


Intermediate musical knowledge or skills are required to study this course.


   Intermediate level of understanding of recording techniques, processes, and equipment.
   Successfully completion of the Pro Tools 101: Introduction to Pro Tools course.
   Successfully completion of the Pro Tools 110: Music Production with Pro Tools course.
   Basic understanding of recording techniques, processes, and equipment.
   English Language aptitude: speaking, reading, writing and comprehension.
   Basic Mathematical aptitude

This course allows for only 16 students per intake to secure maximum contact with the students. Each student will work on a dedicated DAW workstation during the course. Classes consist of practical hand's-on class exercises, demonstrations and assignments.

   Full time classes are presented over 4 days from 9:30 till 16:30 in the afternoons
   Part time classes are presented on two week-days per week over 4 weeks from 18:00 till 21:30 in the evenings



The course includes the Pro Tools 201 textbook and all additional course material and notes. The Course also includes two attemts to the internationally accredited professional certification exams.


The course is presented but (not limited) on the latest version of "Pro Tools" Digital Audio Workstation Software.

In order to work remotely as well, it is recommended that students obtain their own licenses of the primary software platforms.


Everything you need to successfully complete the course is provided for on Campus during your sessions.

All enrolled students can book and use the Institution's fully equipped studios and practice room to complete their practical projects during the course.

If you want to gain more experience in music technology, excel at the software used in the course and be able to complete assessment tasks remotely, it is strongly recommended that you have access to your own DAW setup.
