About the course
The one-year Higher Certificate in Creative Music Technology is designed specifically for entrepreneurial-minded, self-starter music producers who want to produce quality music on a computer.
This program is perfect for you if you don’t want to be tied to conventional studios but rather want the freedom to work in creative spaces, anywhere in the world. It specialises in Digital Music Production and is based on the current techniques used in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and music studio setup.
Providing you with the attitude, skills, and knowledge to become an independent music producer or artist. Topics covered focus on creative aspects such as MIDI sequencing and programming, music theory, arranging techniques, as well as mixing and mastering.
A broad range of musical genres, production techniques, and industry-standard software packages, such as FL Studio and Cubase, are presented in a practical way. Therefore, when graduating, you will be able to produce music in a variety of styles.

To apply for an accredited full-time course you need to complete the online application form by clicking on the Apply button above.
Once your application has been received, we will contact you and request a copy of your matric certificate, current report, or your preliminary matric results if you have not yet passed grade 12, as well as a copy of your ID.
Our college registrar will then contact you for the outstanding documentation which includes a copy of your payees’ ID and proof of income. We will send you the payment contract to complete as well as the invoices for the registration fee of R4500 and the course fee.
Your registration fee secures your seat at EMENDY for the next intake.
All course registrations close 2 weeks before the course starting date. Late registrations will be open until the course starting date at an additional fee.
Yes! EMENDY offers a variety of short courses designed for those who can’t study full time. These courses are individually created to provide you with the necessary skills to reach your career goals.

It is important to note that one of your languages must either be English or Afrikaans to qualify for a Higher Certificate.
We do not offer any accommodation but being situated in the student hub of Hatfield, Pretoria, there are many accommodation options available. Recommended accommodation places are listed in the course booklet.
Class lengths vary, the longest being 3 hours. Students are divided into groups and a schedule drafted for the semester. Depending on your group you attend class between 8 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday.
Matric or graduating from high school GRADE 12 is equivalent to SAQA NQF 4.
Our Higher Certificates are NQF 5.
