About the course

Since the creation of animated films and videogames, the demand for animators has grown. Animators are involved with everything from motion graphics to full feature films and even video games. In this short course you will learn everything you need to be comfortable with creating striking and beautiful animations for your portfolio by using pre-made 3D characters.

Course Content

Week 1
Through using Blender and understanding the 12 principles of animation you will be able to create striking and beautiful animations that move and rotate. You will be able to pose an armature which is like a real skeleton and can consist of many bones. These bones can be moved around and anything that they are attached to or associated with will move in a similar way.
Week 2
In week two we bring characters to life with animation effects. You will be able to use keyframes, edit with the graph editor and apply squash and stretch to animate bouncing balls.
Week 3
Get the theory required to animate characters like a pro. You will be using character rigs to create the bone structure of a 3D model. Understand follow through and overlapping actions as well as how to loop the animation for ultimate results.
Week 4
During the final week, you get the skills to create key poses for characters and how to move from one pose to the next. You will be able to use exaggeration for a more appealing animation and lastly understand how to set up the render and combine pngs to videos.

To apply at EMENDY you need to first click on the Apply button above and complete the application form. 

Once your application has been received, we will contact you and request a copy of your ID. 

Our college registrar will then be in contact to get the remainder of the documentation which includes a copy of your payees ID and proof of income. We will send you the contract to complete and the invoice for the course fee. Once we have received your signed documents your seat is secured at EMENDY for the next intake.

All course registrations close 2 weeks before the course starting date. Late registrations will be open until the course starting date at an additional fee. 

For all short courses and workshops no matric certificate is required.

EMENDY doesn’t offer any accommodation but being situated in Hatfield, Pretoria and being surrounded by many universities, colleges and educational institutions there are many accommodation options available. We can provide you with a list of places should you require it.

This short course run from 15:00 – 17:00 on Tuesdays and Fridays.
